Local History: this rail spur was added in the 1860s to extend the trainlines from Syosset to Northport, but was eventually abandoned due to geographic interference with further extension plans. It was granted to the town by the MTA as part of the Rails to Trails movement.
Know Before You Go: this trail is also used by bicyclists and equestrians!
