This park is cooperatively owned by the Nature Conservancy and Suffolk County. You’ll find well marked trails which lead you around three ponds (Sandy, the largest, Block which may sometimes be dry, and Fox, the furthest from the parking lot), and through a pine forest. There are lots of species of rare plants here, several found around the ponds. A lovely place to walk your dog, but be sure to check for ticks afterwards!
Fun Facts & Sights to See:
- Sights to see: carnivorous plants such as bladderworts and threadleaf and spatulate sundews!
- Local History: at the turn of the 20th century, the ponds were altered to create commercial cranberry bogs, which operated for more than 50 years
- Know Before You Go: parking is extremely limited
