Covering more than three square miles, the James L Goodwin State Forest provides an extensive trail system, as well as a large lake. Named after one of the state’s first conservationists, the property has been home to Christmas trees, stands of timber, and apple orchards in the past.
The Natchaug Trail (blue blazed) begins near the Conservation Center. The Air Line State Park Trail crosses Potter Rd a few hundred feet from the Center, and is about 8 miles long.
