The ⅗ mile trail takes you through an incredibly rare ecosystem that only exists in a few locations in the world. Because the trees only reach a maximum height of approx 6’, they do not offer much protection from sun in the summer, something to think about as you plan your visit!

Fun Fact: The trees in this area (mostly pitch pines and scrub oak) will rarely exceed 3-6 feet in height due to the extremely acidic soil of the area, known as podzolic soil.
