Set in the wetlands of Riverhead, the 1.1 mile loop trail in the preserve allows for gorgeous views of the Little Peconic River, as well as Sweezy Pond. The highlight is the wooden bridge taking you over the bog.

Local history: this was the site of the cranberry growing operation, owned by the Woodhull family
Natural History: the preserve serves as part of the drainage system of the Peconic River, as well as a natural reservoir for Long Island’s fresh water supply
Sights to See: about ¾ of the way through the loop trail, you’ll come upon the remnants of the old pump house from the cranberry farm
