- Local History: The 300 year old Sammis House (The Arsenal) is adjacent to this park. The small stream running through the park supplied the grist mills near New York Ave.
- Local History: this public space has served many purposes. In 1663, settlers began keeping cattle here, in the 1700s it was used as a corral for stray animals, until the mid 1800s it was used as a parade ground for the Huntington Militia, and during the British occupation, served as a camp and supply depot for English forces
